Itinerary

The day of your arrival in Cusco

We pick you up when you arrive in Cusco (3,360m) by plane or bus and we take you back to the hotel in private transportation, you also have booked you hotel in Cusco for the day of your arrival and for the last night after the tour. To acclimatize take a light walk through the colonial and Incas streets, through the local market and enjoy quietly the city. We recommend eating light, non-fat foods for good digestion. In the center of the city of Cusco, you can visit the Basilica Cathedral, then Qoricancha, Inca palace. At 19:00 pm we will see you at your hotel to give an explanation of the visit we will make the next four days.

Day 1. Exit to the adventure: CUSCO – CHINCHERO – MARAS MORAY – SALINERAS (We visit the Inca citadel of Chinchero and spend the night at the Ollantaytambo lodge at 2862 m)

After breakfast, we leave your hotel at 08:00 am. We begin our journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas until we arrive at Chinchero which is 45 minutes from Cusco and at 3800 meters. We will visit for an hour this colorful community, dedicated to Inca textile art and the cultivation of potatoes, corn and quinoa. The Inca Citadel of Chinchero has a wonderful viewpoint from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city. We continue 30 minutes by car to Moray. We will spend an hour visiting the agricultural laboratory of the Incas. We continue our tour through the wells of the salt mine of the community of Maras at 3,400m. We will hike for an hour through the Pichingoto valley to finish in the valley of the Urubamba river. Here we will have lunch at 3000 m. in a restaurant where we will enjoy several typical dishes of the region. After lunch, the car will take us to Ollantaytambo (25 minutes) to start a 20-minutes climb to the Pinkulluna viewpoint which will offer us a panoramic view of the fortress and the center of Ollantaytambo. Then we will begin the descent to the Plaza de Armas passing through the narrow Inca streets and visiting the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. The visit will last about 2 hours until arriving at our lodge in Ollantaytambo where we will have dinner.

Day 2. Trip to the rainforest: OLLANTAYTAMBO – URPIPATA – SPA COCALMAYO (We will cross the pass of Abra Malaga and spend the night in the house of Santa Teresa at 1530 m)


After breakfast, we leave at 8:00 am. For 6 hours, we will travel by car, passing different tropical floors through an alternative route that will allow us to cross the Abra Málaga and we will enjoy the famous snowy peak of Veronica (4316m). We will stop to visit the Inca city of Huamanmarca and the viewpoint of Urpipata, a town dedicated to the cultivation of coffee and coca leaf. We will have a picnic in the edge of the rainforest at 1300m. Then we will descend for about two hours by a path that will allow us to reach the Vilcanota River where the volcanic waters of Cocalmayo are located. We will enjoy two hours of spa. Then we will continue by car for about 10 minutes until arriving at our family house in Santa Teresa.

Day 3. Hike through the rainforest of Machu Picchu: SANTA TERESA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES (First view of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu from the road, we spend the night in the lodge of Aguas Calientes at 1900 m)


In the morning, we have an optional activity of 2 hours consisting of sliding by 5 cables (zip line) between the mountains. The cost per person is $ 30 USD. If there is no one for this option, we continue our journey. After breakfast, a car will take us for 30 minutes to the hydroelectric. Here, we will start a four-hour trek to reach the Inca garden, located behind the Machu Picchu Mountain, the other entrance gate. We will have lunch at Mandor where we will visit the botanical garden area and the Mandor waterfalls. We will give a time of exploration of one hour for lovers of flora and fauna. Then we will walk for two hours to Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in the Lodgings planned next to the sacred river Vilcanota. At the lodge, we will give you the last briefing for the next day!

Day 4. Exploring the Inca Empire of Machu Picchu: Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco (3360 m)

After having breakfast early in the lodge, we will take the bus that will take us to the mountain of Machu Picchu. The bus takes 25 minutes to climb. Before entering, those who wish can stamp their passport with the stamp of the Inca citadel. We will begin a guided tour of presentation from 3 to 4 hours. as there is so much to do and see! We suggest to those who wish to visit the mountain of Huayna Picchu (two hours of climb and descent), to buy the entrance with at least three months in advance for being the most visited. Then we return by bus (30mn) to Aguas Calientes for lunch in the afternoon and to catch our train back. The trip from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo lasts approximately 1h45m. Afterwards, a private vehicle will take us back to Cusco (2 hours). We will be arriving in Cusco between 20:00 ó 22:00 and on arrival we leave you in your hotel
